Webb Memorial Hospital is the
A familiar,
reassuring sight to Sun City West residents is the 404-bed Del E. Webb
Memorial Hospital. It and the nearby Sun City Boswell Hospital are part
of the Sun Health Network. The two hospitals placed first and second in a
national study on the cost-effectiveness of 3,600 acute care facilities.
Currently, some 450 physicians have been granted staff privileges at Del
E. Webb Memorial Hospital. Recently a major addition at Del Webb hospital added 72
beds, a larger state-of-the-art emergency room, and other expanded
departments. The surrounding campus houses many doctors'
offices and clinics. The hospital's emergency
room,
along with professional paramedic teams in each of
the community's three fire stations, assure residents of
fast action in the event of an injury, heart attack or other serious
medical problem. The Phoenix
area is home to the world-renowned Barrow Institute, as well as the Mayo
Clinic. To enable Sun City West residents to live
out their lives in their retirement "hometown," the community offers four
assisted-living residences plus three facilities for the memory-impaired.
Hospice care is also available locally.
