There are more than 100 active clubs in Sun City
West. Whatever your interest, you'll find others who share it. You'll
find clubs for every art, craft and hobby, as well as for sports, card
playing and dance. A list of current clubs and contact information is
published in every issue of Recreation Center News, published monthly and
available in all Recreation Centers and the Visitors Center.
The 2000-member Computers West Club offers
classes, on latest hardware, software and the Internet, along with helpful
advice to its members. The renowned Sun City West Rhythm Tappers stay in
shape preparing routines for appreciative audiences. For those who enjoy
growing things, the Garden Club provides speakers with helpful
information for those new to a desert climate. A sister club has 270
garden plots available to members who wish to grow vegetables year round.
There are clubs for bicyclists, motorcyclists,
RVers, and even a saddle club for those who love horses. The Sportsman's
Club provides opportunities for birding, fishing, target practice, hiking
and a "Big Wheel" activity that explores remote areas of Arizona in
four-wheel drive vehicles.

Sun City West offers a wide range of art and
craft clubs, each with their own dedicated workspace. Among them are
basketry, ceramics, clay, copper enameling, knotting and macramé,
lapidary, leather carving, model railroading, photography, Rip 'n Sew,
silvercraft, stained glass and more. The Woodworking and Metalworking
Clubs have their own separate buildings complete with state-of-the-art
equipment. After visiting them, many prospective residents decide to sell
their power tools rather than move them to Sun City West.
Like to kick up your heels? Then join the
ballroom dancing, line dancing, round dancing, square dancing, dancing
arts or dancing fitness clubs. The community has two 11,000 sq. ft.
ballrooms that are also used for large community meetings.
Sun City West residents
come from all over the U.S. and Canada. As a result, there is a great
interest in meeting others from "back home." The many "states clubs"
provide regular opportunities to meet and mingle with people from our home
state. |
